Dollar Store Valentine lighted garland

On a recent trip to the Dollar store, I found some pretty heart shaped doilies.

They were in three different sizes and three different colors ~ white, pink and red.

I bought 1 pack of the large white and one pack of the small red.

I didn’t exactly know what I was going to do with these doilies, but knew I wanted to make something for our home to decorate for Valentine’s Day.

After searching Pinterest and Google, I came across this beautiful garland made from white lights and doilies.

Gorgeous right ??

I absolutely LOVE the all white garland, but also bought the red, so I wanted to use that as well.

Plus, my kids love the color and it is for them to enjoy after all so…

🙂

I had a set of white lights, they weren’t the standard lights, they were the icicle type of lights.

But hey, it’s okay to improvise and make it your own right ??

So that’s exactly what I did !

I used scotch tape and taped the doilies to the cord part of the light strand.

No rhyme or reason, just placed them where I thought they looked good.

Then I hung them over a large mirror we have upstairs so my kiddos can enjoy them each day until Valentine’s Day.

I love the feel of the subtle lights in the hallway, and realize that I’ve missed all of our Christmas lights.

Here is my version of the Dollar-store-Valentine-inspired-lighted-garland….

Total cost $2 !

What do you think?

I just { heart } it !!

    1. Thanks Melissa, and thank goodness people share their great ideas or else I wouldn’t have made this! I’ll stop on over now!

  1. Today, I went to the beach front with my children. I found a sea
shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She placed the shell
to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched
her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is completely off topic
but I had to tell someone!
