Lingerie dresser makeover

I have always wanted a lingerie dresser for my “intimates” and I was thrilled when I stumbled upon this beautiful, solid wood beauty on Craigslist for $80.

Of course my husband asked me if I bartered with the seller, something I would typically do, but when I saw this piece in person I just couldn’t.

In my opinion it was a complete steal at $80, being in such amazing shape and the quality is just superb.

I’ve seen pretty lingerie dressers at stores like HomeGoods and Marshalls and besides their exterior beauty (mirrored drawers, ornate detail, etc.) the quality is cheap, but their price tags steep at $199 and up.

Keeping this in mind, I gladly paid the seller the $80 and off I drove with my 2 little ladies, my new little lingerie dresser….and a BIG smile on my face.

I knew instantly that I would paint the dresser.  I love the wood, but I wanted it softer, more feminine and sweet.

After much deliberation, I decided on a pale yellow and left the top unpainted.

So here is the before and afters of my dresser.

My before is not great…I look this with my iPhone with bright incandescent lighting, but you get the idea.

Before, a really dark wood.

After….a soft pale yellow.

I just love how the crackle worked…I haven’t been so lucky trying this technique in the past.

Originally I thought I would spray paint the hardware but after painting, I decided to keep them as they were.

I glazed the entire piece and used a wipe on polyurethane.

So that’s it…what do you think ??

I had a really had a hard time deciding on a color but in the end, I’m happy.
