Petite French Provincial Table and Chairs Makeover

Around the end of January, I ran across this 3 piece Provincial table and chair set while perusing one of my favorite local thrift shops.  I left empty handed that day, but returned a few days later to find that it was still there.   I excitedly filled my SUV with this set and got right to work once I got it home.  I just knew I could make something really special, especially since it was structurally strong and oh, those curves!

It most certainly needed lots of help as you can see…

I started with the table, cleaning and lightly sanding the top and sides.

Next, I painted the top using a deep brown latex paint.  This took several coats, then I waxed and buffed it to a shiny finish.

I used 3 colors of chalk paint, starting with a Valspar mistint in gray, layering with ASCP in Old White, then Old Town Paint in French Blue.

I used dark and clear wax, buffing everything to complete the finish.

I found this pretty flower pattern fabric at Joanne to reupholster the seats.  This was certainly the most challenging part of the project.

Quite a difference ey?  I really love how it came out.  I loved it so much that I listed it on our town local yard sale page and it sold within a couple of hours.

What a difference some paint makes!
